I purchased a Gaui R5 helicopter just because it's so much fun to fly in the neXt simulator. I fly it all the time in the sim. I wonder if SAB company could help you out creating a Goblin Comet (yellow) for neXt. I know it's hard work for you but maybe they would help financially? I would certainly use it!
OK, I understand. So is that a no or a maybe? How about I ask SAB since it is good advertising and sells helicopters? And I forgot to mention I really like the optional retractable landing gear like the R5 has. I understand if the answer is no because it is a very expensive helicopter. Thanks.
That is interesting, you only need 2 pictures. What angle do the pictures need to be from? What is the minimum resolution? I have a Nikon D700 with a quality Nikkor 300mm lens, and I know how to use it. Lighting is the hard part however and I would need guidance with that. Here is a link to the Helibug web site. At the bottom of this page are pictures I took of my 700N. The lighting is not very good but I used my D700 and took the pictures without doing any special setup other than a tripod.
Of course, I still need the 3D model to build a helicopter for the simulator. But good photos are also very important. It is very important to have enough light. I usually place a lamp at an acute angle on the left and one on the right and one at the top and if necessary also at the bottom. The model should look like a flat poster. No shadows or lights should be visible. Ambient reflections should also not be visible in the object. The camera axis is marked in the sample photos. The model axis must be perpendicular to the camera axis.
This could be a little simpler with the Comet, because I could edit the photo extensively. The Comet has solid color areas. Then you don't need so much light.
I put this cabinet in front of a white wall in my photo studio, so that I don't have the white fades on the object edges and the camera exposure doesn't have to regulate the bright background.
That means I get the 3D file from SAB. I just need photos of the canopy and tail boom design. Only when you have shot useful photos, I can construct the model for the simulator.
I sent a message to SAB but never heard back. Guess they're not interested. Too bad. Doesn't surprise me. I've never heard from Align either when I tried to contact them.
