Some issues with time scale

Thanks for including some changes, new version is even better. So I post some issues with time scale in hope they get resolved too :)

1) I'm not sure if persistence of "time scale" works correctly. Today I test and it seems if I change it in Settings -> Physics it is persisted (restarting neXt will preserve the value), but if I change in "Time Scale" window, it is not. But yesterday I couldn't get it persisted at all. I have a feeling there's some randomness there. How is this supposed to work?

2) I closed the "Time Scale" window. Then I reopened over "Training -> Time Scale". Now I have it in smaller font and in German. Steps to reproduce:
- Open Time Scale window over "Training"
- Close the window with [X]
- Open again..

3) Any chance to have "Time Scale" window open after starting neXt, if it was opened during closing? Same would be great for Piro Trainer..

Hi,

> 2: Thank you for your bug report. I just fixed that.

> 1: Yes, that's the intended behavior. If you change the timescale on the Physics tab, it will be saved as a preset. If you change it in the timescale window, it should not be saved in the preferences. But when you open the menu and close it again, it gets saved because the simulator does not know who has changed the timescale in this case. I think it's easier to understand if we always save it.

> 3: We have to discuss internally if we really want to open the timescale window from the beginning.

Hi Klaus. Thanks for fixes in the new version.

As for time scale persistence, I was really scratching my head about this, because sometimes it does persist things, sometimes not. And I found the pattern to reproduce it.

Let's assume time scale is 100% initially. And that right clicking brings "training" menu (which means you were in this menu last time).

The following steps will result in "time scale" not being persistent (it will come back to 100% after restart):
1. right click to get to menu (training)
2. enable time scale
3. right click to close menu
4. change time scale in the window (ie. to 50%)
5. close next
6. start next. Time scale is 100%

The following steps will result in persisting time scale (it will be 50% after restart)
- repeat steps 1-4
5. right click to go to menu (training)
6. change menu tab to "settings" (in my case it is showing "Input Device" options)
7. right click to close the menu
8. Restart next. Time scale is 50%.

So it looks like getting to "settings" tab, and them closing the menu causes the time scale to be saved.

Yes, that's how it works.

- The settings are saved when you close the menu.
- When you close the timescale window, the time is reset to 100%.

Of course I tend to protect the inexperienced users to always reset the time scale to 100% when restarting the simulator. This is safer as some users overlook the time-scale mark in the upper left area and wonder about a strange simulation.

What happened to me is, I changed time scale to 20%, went to settings to change something else (rotor dish transparency I guess, I changed that often), and since then anytime I start neXt I have time scale of 20%. And no matter how I changed it, it's 20% after restart again. it took me quite some time how to get it back to 100% :)

Do you think it would be a good idea to always reset this setting to 100% when restarting to avoid user headaches?

Then I can add the requested feature 'time scale window opened at startup'.

My preference would be to just remember last time scale always. If it is not 100%, neXt is showing then a small window with current time scale, which tells you clearly that this setting is affected and one click on this window reverts to 100%. This is a great feature actually.

But yes - resetting to 100% is also OK, better than it is now. Keeping it persistent is just my personal preference...

I mean this "window" here, which shows current time scale (if different than 100%) and allows to reset to 100% with just one click. Neat feature.

The neXt v 1.626 now always saves the timescale. And the timescale window will open at startup if the timescale is not in real time.
