Assigning transmitter switch to control flight condition

I can choose the flight condition (e.g. soft, medium, hard, or Klaus!) either by clicking on one of the buttons in model setup, or by pressing 1-4 on the keyboard. I would like to use the flight mode switch on my DX8 to select the flight condition. It's a 3-position switch, so I would only be able to choose one of three. The interface is RX2SIM.

In 'calibrate input device' the switch controls RC8, with values of -38, 0 and +38. At +38, the button display says button 4 is on. At 0, none of the buttons are on. And at -38, button 5 is on.

While you are using the RX2SIM, the button assignment is disabled automatically. That's because the use of proportional channels is always the preferred workflow. Normally you define in your transmitter what the switch should do. These switch is assigned to channel 8 and results in -38, 0, +38 which is already perfect.

For example, you like to assign switch position 1 to flight condition 1, position 2 to flight condition 2 and position 3 to flight condition 3.
- start neXt, press esc, click onto Settings, then onto Input Device and there onto calibrate input device.
- this is the calibration menu. Click there onto functions

- then you move the switch to position 2, click onto slider in the flight condition 1 line. Then you move the switch to position 1 and then click onto next.
- then you click onto slider in the flight condition 2 line, move your switch to position 2 and click onto next.
- then click onto slider in the flight condition 3 line, move your switch to position 3 and click onto next.

Now, when you close the calibration menu and the neXt menu, you can see how neXt follows your transmitter switch.

Thank you, it works now! For clarification, when you are in the function menu, and you want to assign a switch position to a flight condition, you cannot start with the switch in that position.

1. To set position 1, start in position 2 (or maybe 3)
2. Click on 'slider' in the desired flight condition row that you want to activate when you move the switch to position 1.
3. Move the switch to position 1.
4. You aren't done yet! Click next, and the result (in my case, RC 8 (38) will show up in the right column.
5. Repeat for the other switch positions and desired flight conditions.

In that scenario, how do you assign Flight Condition 4 if you only have a 3-way switch?

Nobody really flies 4 flight conditions. Normally, you do not need to assign them to neXt.

These four settings include the flight styles "Soft," "Medium," "Hard," and "Factory Pilot." Usually you only need one of them.

Some pilots use three flight conditions. LowRPM, HiRPM and autorotation. Then define your preferences in two flight condition slots. Autorotation is not an additional flight condition. However, if you need an extra pitch curve, you can define this in the third flight condition slot.
