Hi folks,
Please can you help me ?
I'm having no luck trying to set up a Flysky FS-i6X controller with the CGM neXt Helicopter RC Flight Simulator.
I've gone through the calibration process and:
- The left joystick moves forward and right gradually, but back and left moves instantly to 100% in the opposite direction.
- The right joystick is doing the same i.e. moves forward and right gradually, but back and left moves instantly to 100% in the opposite direction.
I've uploaded a short video to Youtube to show what's happening and you can see it on the iansmith70 Youtube channel.
Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated.
Thanking you in advance.
Cheers,
Ian.

Hi Ian,

do you use OpenTX or EdgeTX?

There are some FrSky examples:
https://www.cgm-online.com/rc-flight-sim...next-usb_e.html

Did you connect your FlySky controller to the computer with a data USB cable? Then follow this description 'FrSky Taranis/Horus with a USB data cable'

When you have done this and the channels are still shifted, then you have to do this:
OpenTX: Create a new fixed-wing model in your transmitter. Connect the XSR-SIM USB dongle to the computer and bind it to your transmitter (D16, CH1-8, no telemetry). It is necessary to adjust the servo center point and travel on your transmitter. Take a look at the input monitor and move your sticks. The slider should not skip. In the transmitter in the Servos menu, set Subtrim to 50 and Min to 0 for the first eight servos.

Helps this?

All the best,
Klaus

Hi Klaus,
Thanks very much for your reply.
I'm not sure about OpenTX or EdgeTX,... I don't know what that means I'm afraid.
I've connected my FlySky FS-i6X with the USB cable that came in the box.
Also, I've just realised that I'm trying to connect my FlySky FS-i6X, but the compatible input device list recommends FlySky FS-i6S (so maybe it's not compatible ?)
And,.. I don't have a XSR-SIM USB dongle. Do I need one of these ?

I have looked at 'FrSky Taranis/Horus with a USB data cable' instructions but don't see the USB (HID) option. Will this be on the transmitter or the neXt CGM software ?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm brand new to this and the neXt CGM software looks really great,... I'm hoping I can use it.

I bought the FlySky FS-i6X and can easily return it if it's easier to but another Remote Controller that is 'plug and play' ?

Cheers,
Ian.

Hi Ian,

I just searched the internet because I don't own an FS-i16X. It looks like it's an older transmitter that doesn't have the built-in USB HID option. With the USB HID option, you simply connect the transmitter to the computer with a USB data cable and switch the transmitter to HID mode. This is shown in a strange way in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRFiRYlpvoM

Do you own the SM-100 USB simulator adapter or the PS/2 to USB Update Cable?

I wouldn't use the SM-100 cable as it has really poor signal quality and only 4 channels.

I guess you got these receiver: FS-IA6. Then you can connect the receiver to an RX2SIM and then have the best possible signal quality and also more than 4 channels. I always use 5 channels: four channels for the four control functions on the sticks and then a switch which is programmed to the fifth channel to turn off the motor. Then you can also train autorotations in the simulator, which is very important if you also want to fly an RC helicopter in reality.

Here is how to set up RX2SIM: https://www.cgm-online.com/rc-flight-sim...next-usb_e.html
There is also described how to program a switch for autorotation (motor off).

Helps this?

All the best,
Klaus
