Airplanes Fly Nose-Heavy

Hello,

The airplanes I have flown in the sim all behave like they are nose-heavy. I tried moving the weight towards the tail, but this does not solve the problem. The planes fly erratically in this setting.

Could someone please look at the flight model or setup for the airplanes?

thanks

I'll take a look at this.

Hi,

I first had to do real life testing to confirm the results of our previous tests we had done while developing the fixed wing physics.

Please select the Katana S, setup bank 3D and set the 'Offset COG' parameter to -14 and then set the 'COG Travel' to 0%.

Is this what you are looking for?

The lower the propeller weight, the lower the COG Travel should be defined. I think 10% is much better than the default of 40%.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I found a missing parameter in the COG calculation. This is fixed in neXt v2.062 or later.

All the best,
Klaus

Hello, Klaus!

You're welcome. I tried out the settings you suggested with the Katana S. Yes, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

I am now experimenting with settings for the Karat Biplane. I haven't gotten that one to work yet. I set the following:
Flight condition: F3A 1
Offset COG: -20.0 (seems to balance straight and level)
COG Travel: 0

With these settings flight without rudder is normal. However, when I input rudder the plane becomes uncontrollable.

EDIT: Actually it becomes uncontrollable without rudder in other flight conditions.

This problem should be solved in v 2.065: Updated calculation of the moving center of gravity for fixed-wing models.

Align T-Rex 700X, helicopters, fixed-wing models and multicopters
