Ubuntu 17.10 + Interlink Elite controller - the interlink works with "everything" else.
The calibration channel overview shows "no input device" , and no motion...

how is that possible ? - I mean, "any" other application/game/simulator works with the controller as a joystick... why would you have a problem ?

This is described in one of my posts above:

I looked at the ‚enhancements‘ of the Unity3D v5.6 game engine libraries and there they have listed this:

- Linux: Switched window management and input handling from X11 to SDL2 on Linux.

This is the problem. I think, your system should support SDL2 also for the input controller. If not, the input device is not visible in neXt (which is running on the game engine Unity3D). I'm also very angry about that, but I cannot do anything in this case.

For example: FPV Freerider and Recharged - is made using Unity ... and works fine on the same system. I would say that proves it's highly possible :)

I see, so Unity messed up, and havent fixed it yet. - and you need some of the new stuff.
Feel free to PM of email me when they do, I'd buy the software if it worked.
